what are essential oils?

Okay, let's start with the basics. Essential oils are naturally occurring, aromatic, volatile compounds that protect plants from stress. Since plants are stationary, these compounds provide protection against a variety of ailments and stressors, like bacteria, fungus, herbivory, and more.

So what can they do for us?

Because essential oils are incredibly versatile, a single oil can be used for a multitude of purposes! Take Lavender, for example. While Lavender EO is best known for it's relaxing properties, this oil also has anti-spasmodic, anti-inflammatory, and analgesic action. So not only is Lavender helpful for stress and anxiety, it is also useful for digestive discomfort, pain relief, skin issues, and more.
